Accessibility at the Mexico City Grand Prix: How the Event Supports Fans with Disabilities

When it comes to inclusion and accessibility, the Mexico City Grand Prix has become one of the standout events on the Formula 1 calendar. Hosted at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the race not only offers world-class motorsport action but also a well-structured accessibility plan designed to ensure that fans with disabilities can enjoy the experience comfortably and safely.

Accessible Zones for Fans with Disabilities

The Mexico GP offers two designated accessible seating areas for people with disabilities:

  • Green Zone: Located along the start/finish straight, accessible via Gate 7, with a capacity for 80 guests.

Both zones offer ramp access, clear visibility of the track, and assistance from trained staff to ensure a smooth and inclusive experience throughout the weekend. The accessible areas are open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Parking and Entry Access

Parking for disabled guests is available at the Estadio de los Diablos (Gate 8), with direct ramp connections to both accessible zones. Attendees should arrive early to secure a parking spot and are reminded to display valid disability permits or placards as required by Mexican traffic regulations.

Inclusive Experiences and On-Site Activities

As part of its Sustainability and Diversity Strategy, focused on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Mexico City GP has implemented various accessible activities across the venue to promote equal participation:

  • Green Zone: Adapted simulators for fans with disabilities are available on Friday (16:00–17:30) and Sunday (09:00–10:30).

  • Blue Zone: The GP Center and volumetric experience offer immersive attractions for all attendees.

  • Yellow Zone: Features include Bosco’s mural and the creative Inclusion Pin activity.

Each zone also hosts interactive experiences where fans can win exclusive event posters and prizes.

Accessibility Support and Identification

Visitors with visible or invisible disabilities can request an Accessibility Identifier, a visual badge that helps staff provide adequate assistance during the event. These identifiers are available at the accessible information booths located across the venue.

Communication and Feedback

The organization encourages visitors to share feedback about accessibility services by emailing atencionpcd@mexicogp.mx. This ongoing evaluation process helps the event continuously improve accessibility standards for future editions of the Mexico GP.

Safety, Conduct, and Admission Policy

To ensure safety and comfort for all, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez enforces strict security protocols:

  • All mobility aids and personal support tools (wheelchairs, scooters, canes, etc.) must remain in assigned areas.

  • Service animals are welcome but must remain under control at all times.

  • Accessible tickets cannot be sold or transferred, and misuse may result in revocation without refund.

In case of a temporary or acquired disability during the event, guests will receive immediate medical attention and may request reallocation to an accessible zone (subject to availability).

A Commitment to Inclusion

The Mexico City Grand Prix continues to build its reputation as one of the most inclusive and forward-thinking races on the F1 calendar. Through its accessibility program, free transportation services, trained staff, and clear commitment to diversity, the event ensures that every fan, regardless of ability, can enjoy the thrill of Formula 1 to the fullest.
